One of the identifying marks of a people
living into the spirit of Christ is that of extending Christ's grace among others.
As we discern God's special calling for FPC's mission in the world, we actively support the following local, national, and international
compassionate ministries...
Youth Zone Teen Pal Program
Yampah Teen Mother Program
Nurses with a Purpose
Lift- Up
Souper Bowl of Caring
One Great Hour of Sharing
On January 15th we will be kicking off the Yampa Teen Parent Diaper Drive. As many of you remember, before
they had their own building, The program met at the First Presbyterian Church. They have now been in their own
space for many years, but we have continued to collect disposable diapers to present to the youth in the
program. This year the team decided that instead of collecting in busy December, we would wait until January.
So please bring your packages of diapers and diaperwipes. The program has grown considerably since it was
here at the First Presbyterian Church and the diapers are much appreciated by the young parents.
On February 11th and 12th we will again attempt a collection of food for lift up. We will be contacting both City
Market and Safeway for permission to collect items to help stock the shelves at the Glenwood Springs Lift-up
pantry. We are asking now for participation to help do the collecting. Sign up sheets will be at church after
January 15th. Last year we fell short on participation and were only able to collect at Safeway, we need your help
to make this happen. We will be asking members to bring items to Church on February 12 only. If you forget and
are still interested in helping, we will have envelopes available to allow you to provide financial support.
On Sunday, January 29th, the Middle School kids will be standing at the exits and down in the fellowship hall
eager to receive your donations of cans of soup and/or cash donations. Participating in the fruitful, nation-wide
youth hunger ministry called Souper Bowl of Caring (check out souperbowl.org), our kids will then head out on
Super Bowl Sunday (February 5th) to City Market to encourage our football loving neighbors to share a can of
soup to relieve hunger right here in our own backyard. All contributions remain locally, and the kids have decided
to choose Lift-Up. There may be more news on the Souper Bowl front so keep your ears open! ;)
